Yoga Nidra is a simple, efficient and pleasant form of relaxation / meditation developed by the modern yoga master Swami Satyananda Saraswati (1923-2009).
Yoga Nidra means "yogic sleep" and refers to a state of consciousness where body and mind are in deep sleep, as in sleep, while a part of our consciousness is constantly alert and observe everything that happens in the body and the mind. The benefits of being in this state of mind are numerous:
* Deep-physical, mental and emotional stress released
* Body and mind gets very effective rest and recovery
* Yoga Nidra reduces the negative effects of stress such as heart disease, high
blood pressure, sleeping problems, etc.
* The effects of Yoga Nidra continues even after the exercise and we are becoming more aware and
relaxed in everyday life, even in situations that would otherwise be experienced as stressful
* We can in this relaxing and sleep-like state to learn to witness the thoughts, feelings

Yoga Nidra is shot by Mattias Hagman Gopala, yoga and meditation teacher, behavioral and Ayurvedic health advisor. He started Gavle Yoga School in 2001 and is affiliated to the Satyananda Yoga Sweden and the International Yoga Fellowship Movement. He holds regular courses and lectures to the public, businesses and organizations. Since 2006 he is also one of the leaders of the national yoga teacher training in Satyananda Yoga Sweden.
